“Control Dynamics Corporation designs and manufactures the only helmet radios used by the NFL, and Telex intercom communications have over two decades of proven performance as the standard issue systems on NFL sidelines. The allegiance between our two companies is trusted by all 32 teams in the NFL. The UFL required an equally high level of service and technology, and we were pleased to join forces with Telex once again to support this exciting new league.”The systems CDC designed for the UFL’s head coaches are built around the Telex Lombardi system, which uses the BTR-1 encrypted wireless. Telex was also instrumental in selecting the frequency bands for the Lombardi systems used at each of the UFL venues – a unique RF coordination service that Telex provides to all its sports communications customers.
“Telex equipment performs extremely well and is unmatched when it comes to reliability,” Shuhart says. “We’ve enjoyed great results with the Lombardi system many times before; it offers great value, excellent audio performance, and ease-of-use. For the remaining coaches, we used wired systems, synching the Lombardi wireless system and the wired intercom with the Telex IC-100 (six-channel source assign panel) to bring it all together. A lot of the coaches in the UFL are former NFL coaches, so they’re already accustomed to the Telex equipment and its operation – there was no training necessary. Once again, we’re very pleased with the results of our partnership with Telex.”
