In this year’s election 126 million Americans turned out to vote; the most in history. The television audience was assuredly massive as well, which meant that national broadcasters had to be ready for seamless, split-second updates during the entire night. That level of coordination is only possible with a state-of-the-art communications system- such as with RTS Digital Matrix Intercom.

One national broadcaster setup aduplicate of their news system, and had dozens of KP-32 keypanels throughout every location including the studio, main campus, and two HD production trucks in Times Square, which was packed with starry-eyed spectators. In addition, remote stations in Connecticut, Washington DC, and London were also seamlessly tied in. This was accomplished using RTS ADAM matrix frames with the new AIO-16 16-port analog I/O cards. The frames were hooked together with RTS Intelligent Trunking Technology that included trunkmaster frames and RTS control software for PC workstations

RTS support technicians, including Chuck Roberts and brothers Scott and Michael Gilman, were on hand to ensure a smooth broadcast. One network's Director of Engineering praised RTS technicians for being well-informed and very supportive. The DE also commented on the night’s broadcast being nearly perfect.

The 2008 election was a major milestone in several respects, not the least of which is the continued advancement in communication. As the country moves forward, so do the innovations from RTS Intercom.
