At the Summer X Games, Telex hooked up ESPN’s broadcast operations center (BOC) with four Advanced Digital Audio Matrix frames at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, with one each from Huntington Beach, Long Beach and the Home Depot Center in Carson.

The communication systems that tied together NBC’s New York and Atlanta facilities were critical to the coverage of the 1996 Olympic Games. These communication systems not only linked the two broadcast facilities together, but also provided communication between individual athletic venues and the network hubs.
NBC’s Olympic broadcast plan calls for a “virtual” broadcast center – the International Broadcast Center or IBC – that ties the network’s New York broadcast facilities in 30 Rockefeller Center to facilities NBC is building in Atlanta for Olympic Coverage.
