1 July 2009

Canton, Ohio played host to a rare mid-summer football tournament from June 25 to July 5, when eight football teams from North America, Europe, and Japan came to the Pro Football Hall of Fame to compete for the top spot in the first ever International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Junior World Championships. To accommodate each team’s sideline-topress-box communications, Ohio-based Paladin Professional Sound provided Telex Legacy wireless intercom systems for the teams’ coaching staffs.

The tournament, featuring the best high-school-aged football players from around the world, was played at Canton’s Fawcett Stadium, which rests only steps from the grounds of the Hall of Fame. Paladin’s Bob Myers Sr. comments:

“Paladin recently completed work on the multi-million-dollar renovation of Fawcett Stadium’s press box facilities, which puts it on par with many NFL stadiums. Whereas an NFL team will be completely equipped with intercom systems, the teams that visited for the IFAF tournament weren’t equipped with communications equipment. As long-time Telex users – we work with the Cleveland Browns and provide Telex gear to high school and college teams – we stepped up with two Legacy 6 six-user full-duplex wireless intercom systems – one for each team playing at any given time.”

“The reports I received from the stadium management and the teams were very positive,” says Myers. “The Legacy system is easy to use, reliable, and delivers great sound quality. It made such a strong impression that the stadium is going to purchase two systems for use at future events like this, and Canton Schools also purchased their own system. We were pleased to be part of making the event so successful that the IFAF plans to host the event in Canton again next year!”
