“Our Telex equipment makes it easier to communicate,” says Gary Weber, manager of Continental Wireless, who provided the equipment, which allows radio comms to be coordinated on an IP backbone via a desktop control position using Telex C-Soft software. “It allows the operators to talk on multiple channels at the same time without having to switch channels, which is not possible with a portable.”The Telex IP-223 network remote adapter panel is at the center of their IP-based dispatch system, with around five units per operator control position helping the entire Southwest team at the airport communicate, from ramp personnel to fueling personnel.
“The use of the Telex consoles facilitiates an easier work environment for the operator without the necessity of using multiple radios,” Weber adds. “They cut down the channel traffic that the operator has to listen to, allowing more streamlined communications.”
