The next generation Ascend headset from Telex is now available, featuring a new, comfort-enhancing headband design. The Ascend has a unique modular design that enables the user to swap components for use in a variety of applications. A simple, tool-free procedure makes it easy to change connectors or battery types. Available modules include:
- TRS headphone connector
- Five-pin XLR connector
- Rechargeable battery
- Replaceable battery
Multiple Applications
The Ascend is ideal for use in both the cockpit and the cabin. Simply swap connectors and use the same professional-grade headset for commercial flying or personal audio applications. For example, a pilot can connect a boom mic to the five-pin XLR module for a commercial flight, swapping with a listen-only headphone module to enjoy music on a digital media player during a layover. The possibilities are endless.
Upgradeable
- All the above features are easily changed-out by the end-user – no tools necessary
- Field repairs can be done at the module level, so the Ascend can be quickly and easily repaired
- Units can change as the requirements change. A two-plug version for CRJ use today can be an XLR version for Airbus usage tomorrow
Superior Sound Quality
In addition to its modularity, the Ascend has been finely tuned to provide superior audio quality for dialogue or music. Some of the advances that make the Ascend a truly remarkable listening device include:
Sound level limiting
Special consideration has been made to protect the hearing of Ascend users. Prolonged exposure to high sound levels can be harmful, so the Ascend automatically limits the speaker output to a safe range.
Expanded frequency response
Full-bandwidth frequency response ensures the headset sounds great when used for dialogue or music.
Noise reduction system
The Ascend’s advanced active noise reduction (ANR) system specifically targets common cockpit noises, such as wind across the windshield and ventilation. The Ascend improves upon the active noise reduction in the popular ANR 500 & 850 models and the passive noise reduction of the Airman 850.
Fold-Flat Swivel Design
The Ascend’s unique chassis features pivoting earcups, ensuring a snug custom-fit for the user. The earcups pivot a full 180°, enabling the headset to fold flat for compact storage.
Three-Year Warranty
Like all Telex Aviation headsets, the Ascend is covered by a full three-year warranty. The solid construction is designed to prevail through thousands of hours of flying time.
